The book “A Song for Wednesdays” has found its audience in Armenia. Thanks to the efforts of Georg Asatorian, this is the second book by Farhad Hassanzadeh—following Call Me Ziba—to be added to the Persian collection of the National Children’s Library of Armenia.
Originally published in Persian in 2019 by Peydayesh Publishing, “A Song for Wednesdays” has since been reprinted twice.
The book tells a dual-perspective story of a teenager from southern Iran who is unwillingly drawn into the overwhelming power of the cinema industry. One narrative voice belongs to a film set assistant, while the other unfolds through the perspective of the author.
Reflecting on translating Persian books into Armenian, Asatorian remarked, “Translating these works provides a valuable opportunity to familiarize Armenian children with the universal messages of Iranian literature.”
