We have been living with stories in our land, both written and oral. These stories have been passed from one generation to the next one, winning our minds and thoughts and among which we can name Boz-e zangoole paa (The goat with the bell) or Shangol, Mangol and the Grape that has been told in so many different versions all over Iran.
Years ago, I wrote some stories inspired by this traditional one to make it more adapted to the modern children’s life. I think kids are sort of similar to those baby goats; facing loneliness in the absence of parents and trapped in small apartments, they are exposed to some dangers i.e. wolves, tricks and threats. But can today’s kids or sweet baby goats protect their valuable selves?
This book has been illustrated charmingly by Fatemeh Khosravian and published by Nardeban Books. It is appropriate for 6 to 8-year-old children and can teach them some “life skills” indirectly. The four titles of the stories include: Scary Gorilla on the Stairs, Where Needs to Be Sprayed? Parrot in the Loft, and The Lovely Wicked Wolf.
